The Jehovah Titles

The Jehovah Titles, as used through the Old Testament, declare the characteristics of God in behalf of his people. Some examples are “Jehovah our Provider,” “Jehovah our wholeness,” and “Jehovah our Righteousness.” As Jehovah, he provides for his people. He is our wholeness! He is our righteousness! Did you know that every one of the Jehovah Titles, as shown in the Old Testament, is realized for God’s people today through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ? That’s right! The redemptive work of Jesus Christ caused every one of these Jehovah Title realities to be gifted as reality for us who have believed on Jesus Christ. This class, and series’ like this, have been known to build faith and trust in what God says he is in our behalf.

THE JEHOVAH (YHWH) TITLES:

1. Jehovah-Jireh: Jehovah will see, or provide. Gen. 22:14

2. Jehovah-Rapha: Jehovah our Healer. Ex. 15:26

3. Jehovah-Nissi: Jehovah our banner or sign

ensuring victory over our enemies. Ex. 17:15-16

4. Jehovah-Qadash: Jehovah our sanctifier. He

purified us for divine service. Ex. 31:13.

5. Jehovah-Shalom: Jehovah our peace (completeness,

soundness, welfare). Judg. 6:24

6. Jehovah-Tsidkenu: Jehovah our righteousness. He

is our source for being right, or without flaw. Jer. 23:6

7. Jehovah-Shammah: Jehovah is there, or present.

He is attending, residing, opposite of absent. Ezek. 48:35.

8. Jehovah-Ra-ah: Jehovah our shepherd. He tends to our needs, watches over us. Psm. 23:1ff
